Ballymoney trio Kaia Moore, Lucy McCartney and Sarah Kirgan enjoyed a successful weekend of hockey as part of the Ulster U16 panel which faced a U.K Lions squad at Deramore. The 4 match series took place from Friday 17th August to Sunday 19th August with the three girls being involved in 3 out of the 4 matches. Friday evening's game saw Ulster come out 3-1 winners in a one sided affair. Ulster opened the scoring in the first 30 seconds of the game on Saturday afternoon before running out 5-1 winners with Ballymoney forward Lucy McCartney getting her name on the scoresheet. It was a more tightly contested match on Sunday morning, a 3-3 score at full time, resulted in penalty runs, the final score 5-2 to Ulster.
This series will help U16 coach Joel Cathcart select his squad for the interpro's which will be held in September.
