Success at Stormont

The U15s lifted the Ulster plate this morning following a successful 3-0 victory over Ards HC. The young Ballymoney side dominated in the first half but the goal only came about 10mins from HT. A strong break through the circle allowed Lucy McCartney to slip past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Strong defensive work from Sarah Kirgan, Katie McLaughlin, Katie Burns and Jemma Guiney under guidance from goalkeeper Katie Clark ensured that the Ards forwards could not capitalise on any efforts on goal. As half time Approached the score remained 1-0. A few changes at half time saw Kaia Moore brought into midfield and with two minutes gone into the second half she passed the ball through to Lucy McCartney who slipped past the goalkeeper for her second of the game. Strong interlinking play from Holly Barr and Megan Kirgan helped Lucy grab her third of the game. Jessica Mulligan was unlucky not to score in the second half, she hassled the Ards defence and put the keeper under pressure. Sarah Kirgan was extremely unlucky not to add her name to the score sheet with a flying reverse stick shot. This win put the icing on the cake for the U15s who have had a very successful season under the guidance of Cathryn Knipe and Diane Kirgan.
